Focusing on the Goals and Abilities of Each Student
The unique AccelanTech method, developed by founder Jeff Britton, is based on his 40 years of experience teaching English to students of all levels from dozens of different countries. Unsatisfied with teaching methods that rely on a standardized approach to learn English for all students in a class, Jeff developed the student-centered AccelanTech method which focuses on the goals and abilities of each individual student. In a classroom or in online groups, team learning and friendly competition enable each individual student to reach his or her maximum potential, speaking English and using excellent English grammar quickly and enjoyably.
Assessing Learner Knowledge and Setting Goals
Beginning with diagnostic testing and analysis, the instructor identifies and prioritizes specific grammar needs for each student in the English class. To complete the assessment, students set personal goals and tell us how they like to learn. Then they list, prioritize and use graphics to share their goals and preferred learning styles with others in class. This assessment is used to develop a lesson plan that is customized for every course.
Using Domain Specific Examples
Focusing on the vocabulary and processes students will use in their studies or careers ensures that they can apply their new knowledge immediately. They become active participants in a learning process directly related to their target domain. These real-world simulations are done in a collaborative environment, using role-playing to accelerate the learning process.
Applying Exclusive Techniques to Accelerate Learning
The techniques we use include using tachistoscope exercises (showing a series of images at a rapid speed) to increase recognition and reading speed, Jazz Chants to improve English pronunciation and domain specific projects to build confidence. We create a supportive environment where students collaborate in pairs and join teams for friendly competitions. This dynamic accelerates learning and reinforces their new skills.

“Students learn faster when they set their own goals and do the exercises in a team environment. They enjoy the class, and the friendly competition motivates them to quickly improve their comprehension and pronunciation."

The difference in English training is evident from the first day of class. In our English program, placement testing and diagnostics reveal specific needs targeted for each student to be sure we don’t review concepts and skills students have mastered.
“I left the first class excited and energized! I was ready to put in more time and effort to study English. I knew it would pay off.”
